OHIO: “Ohio Supreme Court: Sellersburg couple can keep son for now” 10.01.2010 | Adoption
By: Matt Thacker Tuesday, the Ohio Supreme Court granted an emergency stay allowing an Indiana couple to keep the nearly 3-year-old son they have raised since birth while the Ohio Supreme Court determines whether to reconsider its decision in In re G.V., 2010 Ohio 3349. In that case, the Ohio Supreme Court ruled that the child’s biological father had the right to refuse to consent to the child’s adoption and gain custody of the child, as he had been judicially determined to be the child’s father by a juvenile court while the adoption proceeding was stayed pending the paternity proceedings.
