CALIFORNIA: Adoption of M.S.
01.28.2010 | Adoption / International

The Court of Appeal of California, Third Appellate District affirmed the trial court’s order denying appellant adoptive parents’ petition to set aside their Ukrainian adoption of a Ukrainian girl, finding that California courts are limited to setting aside adoption decrees granted by a California court, and because this adoption was granted in Ukrainia and the appellants did not “readopt” the child in a California court when they returned with her to the U.S., the trial court lacked jurisdiction to make a ruling on the petition.
